It's the only vacation rental on our side of the island that is surrounded by a surfboard fence! Walk out the back gate to the coffee cafe or small local grocery store. Enjoy the outdoor shower, your own fenced yard and outdoor covered porch for relaxing. Private and quiet cottage in a perfect location for exploring the island! IDEAL GUESTS: Our ideal guests are returning Maui visitors that want to experience something different than the resorts. Or first time guests that want to experience Maui like a local resident away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist areas. Many guests stay with us to explore the North shore, Hana and Haleakala as we are in the ideal location to these beautiful wonders of maui.
Enter our family friendly neighborhood, where we are located at the end of a private street. Our newly remodeled cottage sits at the front of our property with it's own parking and private yard. We also have another home on our property that we rent out called Haiku Surf House (sleeps 6) that sits separately at the back of the property that too has it's own parking and private yard. These can be rented together to accommodate up to 10 people. Our cottage has everything you would need for your stay- just bring your clothes and aloha spirit.
ACCOMMODATES: The cottage accommodates up to 4 people and is well appointed with everything you need to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
THE SPACE: The space is warm and inviting with hardwood floors throughout and carpet in the bedrooms.
KITCHEN: The kitchen comes fully equipped for cooking and includes an electric stove & microwave.
BEDROOMS: The lower bedroom has a regular queen bed, pillows and soft linens with access to the backyard and room for a portable crib (not provided), sleeps 2. The upper bedroom has a memory foam queen bed, pillows, soft linens, sleeps 2.
BATHROOM: The full bathroom is equipped a shower/tub combo, with toilet paper, hand soap & bathroom towels for use during your stay. There is also a private outdoor shower at the backside of the cottage with hot/cold water. Our favorite place to shower after coming home from the beach!
DINING ROOM: A dining room table sits 4 and shares the open living space with a couch and TV armoire.
EXTRAS: The entire cottage has fast wireless internet access. Each room has a ceiling fan for warmer days and extra blankets for those few chilly nights. The cottage comes with beach towels, guidebooks, and plenty of aloha.
WASHER/DRYER ACCESS: A washing machine and dryer are accessible for guests staying more than 6+ nights.
FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN: If your reservation includes children, we ask that you respect our home and space and cleanliness of the cottage during your stay. Please have children eat and drink in the dining area to avoid sticking fingers and spills throughout the home. At check-out we ask all our guests to leave the cottage in the manner in which they received it.
May Not be suitable for infants or toddlers as the home is not baby proofed and does not come equipped with infant sleeping or eating accommodations other than what is noted in our listing. If your bringing a portable crib, there is space in the lower bedroom for one to be set up.
GUEST ACCESS:
Guests are renting the entire Haiku Surf Cottage for their stay. And have use of 2 private house parking spots and a private yard.
OWNER INTERACTION WITH GUESTS:
We are available to answer questions and help make your stay enjoyable anytime thru your reservation portal or by cell/text and attend to your needs as they come up. If we are off island during your stay, we have a property manager that is always available if onsite needs arise. Otherwise, your privacy will be respected so you can enjoy our home like it is your own.

THE NEIGHBORHOOD:
Our home is conveniently located in a quiet family neighborhood within 2 minute walk to the best local coffee cafe in Haiku town, Baked on Maui in the Pauwela Cannery. There is also a small health food store, Pauwela Store with a variety of grocery amenities, hardware store, windsurf and surf shops etc... You are welcome to walk out the back gate of the property for a quick shortcut to the cannery.
NORTH SHORT OF HAIKU: Haiku is located on the north side of Maui with perfect island weather of about 80 degrees year round. We get cooler nights, often with rain which keeps our surroundings green and lush and days kissed by the sun and trade winds. The airport is only 20 minutes away, but you will feel like you are miles from the hustle and bustle of it all.
AROUND HAIKU: Around Haiku are countless activities and natural resources to explore, such as shopping, hiking, surfing, waterfalls, beaches, zip lining, and horseback riding. Haiku is a balanced mix of locals and travelers. In town you have access to a variety of great restaurants, a grocery store, the Maui Kombucha bar, a post office, medical doctor, massage and acupuncture clinic, chiropractic studio, spa and yoga studio, hardware store, and a local gas station run by Mr Ching who pumps your gas for you.
The famous Hookipa Beach Park is only 6 minutes away where the local surfers and windsurfers go for the best north shore waves. The towns of Paia and Makawao are located 10 minutes away where you can find some of our favorite shops and restaurants.
HAIKU is a great base from which to explore the island:
* We are only a 25-minute drive from the airport.
* Hookipa Beach is 8 minute drive from the house.
* Paia, named the “Happiest Seaside Town” by Coastal Living magazine, is a 10-minute drive offering with great shopping, good food, yoga and beautiful beaches.
* The historic town of Makawao is a 10-minute drive away where you will find art galleries, clothing boutiques, great restaurants, cafes, yoga, and a multitude of healing arts.
* Drive through Upcountry Maui, to the top of the Haleakala Crater in just 90 minutes for beautiful sunrise or sunset views.
* The south side beaches of Makena, Wailea, and Kihei are a little over half an hour away.
* The drive to Lahaina or further up the coast on the west side, takes 45-minutes to an hour, depending on road conditions.
* Driving the Road to Hana is one of our favorite adventures and reaching the town of Hana itself will take about 2 hours depending on how many stops you make along the way.
GETTING AROUND:
We recommend renting a car during your stay, The nearest bus stop is 1.8 miles down the road at the Haiku Cannery.
Since we are not in a tourist area, Taxi's, Uber or Lyft do not frequent our area regularly, therefore we do not recommend this for your main transportation. However if you choose to use one of these transportation services, make sure to plan ahead of time to make sure it is available for your time requested.
