The Ginger farm is home to Waimea’s famous Cherry Blossom festival. During this time our home is opened up for a Japanese Home Tour, tea tasting, and Japanese craft making. For the remainder of the year we open up our home for guests to rent.
I have 3 miniature goats and two Kune Kune pigs that you get to feed and pet during your stay.
We are located five minutes from Waimea town and only 15 minutes from some of the most pristine beaches on the island, Hapuna and Puako. The house is on a three acre farm overlooking a babbling steam with an avocado tree and a panoramic view of Mauna Kea. Just down the road every Tuesday and Friday is a local farmer’s market where the freshest fruits and vegetables can be found. Another farmer’s market can also be found one block away only on Saturdays.
With temperatures on average a bit cooler compared to the rest of the Island, our home has a fireplace that allows for a warm and comfortable atmosphere.
In addition to the best farmer’s markets, hikes, and beaches minutes away, you will easily reach other exciting destinations. Kona and Hilo are both an hour’s drive away and the entrance on Saddle Road for the 'Mauna Kea Summit' is 30 minutes away. Another 30 minutes away is Honokaa Village leading you to Waipio Valley, and 45 minutes away is Pololu Valley in Hawi. From Hilo it's only 26 more miles to Volcano park.
The town of Wiamea has plenty to offer with its art galleries, boutiques, Parker Ranch, spas, golf, playgrounds, astronomy at the KECK observatory, the Anna Ranch Museum, and a great selection of local restaurants. As stated by one restaurant critic 'For a town of 8,500, little Waimea is turning into a culinary mecca. That may have something to do with the fact that it sits amid some of the state's best farms and ranches. Waimea is all about locally sourced food.' Just see for yourself and visit one of our many farmer's markets.
